Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce
CEO
Cook Islands
I own and manage a couple of tourism accommodation places in Rarotonga, and have been on the Board of the Chamber for the past couple of years. The Chamber recently underwent a transformation to more closely deliver what our business community needs here and I am the acting CEO helping to set up that position, policies and procedures, and financial sustainability until a new CEO can be appointed. I am one of the Employer Representatives on the National Labour Advisory Board (our tripartite committee) and through that, have completed several courses through the International Labour Organisation. While I am definitely a private sector person, I am also firmly of the belief that business can sit comfortably along-side human rights, labour rights, and ethical business. If you cannot operate your business like this as you do not have the margins available to provide decent jobs, then you shouldn't be in business. I have previously own and run my own businesses in New Zealand, and spent over 20 years in the NZ financial markets.
